A few things worth knowing
What is it made from?
Bamboo, woven entirely by hand by a single village community in Indonesia. The bamboo comes from the village's own forest.
Which size should I choose?
Small is 40cm across, Medium 60cm and Large 80cm. The Large makes a statement above a sofa or bed; the Small and Medium work well grouped together.
Can I hang several together?
Yes. Mixing sizes, or finishes, makes an easy gallery wall. Many customers group all three sizes.
What's the difference between the finishes?
White Wash has a soft, pale wash over the weave. Dark Brown is a deep, rich tone. Natural shows the bamboo's own warm colour.
Does it go with the rest of the Scarcroft range?
Yes. The baskets and flat wall decor come in the same finishes, so pieces sit together across a room.
Will mine look exactly like the photos?
Each piece is handmade, so dimensions and finish may vary slightly. That small variation is part of its character.
Who made it?
A single village community, many of them part of the same extended family, who weave by hand and look after their forest so it keeps growing.

The story of…
Bamboo weaving
Our Scarcroft pieces come from one village, where many of the weavers belong to the same extended family. Everyone works by hand, often at home, splitting, shaping and weaving bamboo cut from the village's own forest.
They harvest with care so the forest keeps growing, because it is part of their home as much as their living.
Made by human hands
Indu House began with a simple frustration: too much of what filled our homes was anonymous. So we went back to my roots in Indonesia and found the opposite. Weavers at their doorsteps, potters shaping clay the way their grandparents did, carpenters giving old teak a second life.
We work with them directly, with no middlemen or agents, and bring their work to your door.
