The story of…
Rattan weaving
Our rattan pieces are woven by hand in small rural villages across Indonesia, often at home while chatting with neighbours, friends and family. For many of the women weavers it's a way to add to the family income alongside farming rice or tobacco.
Each region has its own patterns and shapes. The rattan comes from family-owned rainforest, mostly in Kalimantan, and is only cut when the plant is ready, so the forest stays healthy for years to come.
Made by human hands
Indu House began with a simple frustration: too much of what filled our homes was anonymous. So we went back to my roots in Indonesia and found the opposite. Weavers at their doorsteps, potters shaping clay the way their grandparents did, carpenters giving old teak a second life.
We work with them directly, with no middlemen or agents, and bring their work to your door.
