The story of…
Hay-fired pottery
Our small vases are shaped by hand by potters in Java, from clay dug locally and cleaned with stream water.
They're fired the oldest way of all: covered in hay, with the mound set alight to cook the clay. The flames leave each piece with its own smoky markings.
Made by human hands
Indu House began with a simple frustration: too much of what filled our homes was anonymous. So we went back to my roots in Indonesia and found the opposite. Weavers at their doorsteps, potters shaping clay the way their grandparents did, carpenters giving old teak a second life.
We work with them directly, with no middlemen or agents, and bring their work to your door.
